The BfS sets an example for diversity and tolerance
BfS President Dr Inge Paulini with the Diversity Charter certificate
The Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) has signed the Diversity Charter and thus advocates for an appreciative and prejudice-free working environment. "The Federal Office for Radiation Protection values the diversity of its employees as an enrichment for respectful and productive cooperation"
, says BfS President Inge Paulini.
The Charter is an initiative to promote diversity in companies and institutions. It is under the patronage of Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Paulini sees the diversity of age, origin, and nationality, of gender and gender identity, of physical and mental abilities, of religion and world view, and of sexual orientation as an opportunity: "An organisational culture in which diversity is a matter of course leads to employees being best able to contribute their potential."

- cultivating an organisational culture characterised by mutual respect and appreciation
- reviewing HR processes and ensuring that they reflect the various skills and talents of all employees as well as the aspirations of the BfS
- recognising diversity within and outside the office, appreciating the potential it contains, and using it in a way that is profitable for the BfS
- publicly reporting annually on its activities and progress in promoting diversity
- involving workers in the implementation of the Charter.
