Was there any radioactivity in German food due to the accident in Fukushima?

Japan is far away from Germany. The released radioactive substances diluted in the atmosphere. Only very small amounts reached Germany. Small traces of iodine and cesium could be detected, but only because of the high sensitivity of the measuring instruments.

In April 2011, after the radioactive cloud passed Germany, the Max Rubner Institute, Kiel (Federal Research Institute of Nutrition and Food) examined representative environmental media with increased measuring effort and in addition to routine food-monitoring. Milk and garden leek as representatives for individual food chains were tested. The detected values were found within the range of millibequerel. Later taken samples were within the range or below the detection limit of the measuring systems. The measured values were extremely low so that health hazard is not expected even in the case of increased consumption of milk and fresh outdoor vegetables.
