Are microwave ovens dangerous for the user?

A few years ago, the BfS has conducted comprehensive and representative measurements on microwave ovens. The measurements showed, that at places around the microwave oven or at usual locations , the emitted electromagnetic fields are more than a thousand times below the legal limit. Very low leakage radiation can occur on the devices in the area of the screen and the door seal. However, the concern about health effects is unfounded in the case of technically intact microwave ovens. It is always extremely low.
