The tasks of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) are specified in the corresponding Act on the Establishment of a Federal Office for Radiation Protection. In addition, as a subordinate authority within the portfolio of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), the BfS is also subject to the rules and standards of federal administrations. The following criteria are based on the guidelines set out by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and have been adapted to the tasks and framework conditions of the BfS in accordance with the recommendation contained therein.
