Views of the population on the 5G mobile communications standard
- The BfS has already conducted several surveys that explored the public's views on the topic of "mobile communications and health".
- The aim of the present project is to solicit the views of the population on mobile communications in general and on 5G in particular in order to adapt the information and dialogue offers of the BfS accordingly.
What is the issue?
The topic of "mobile communications and health" has been attracting increased public interest for some time. This interest is primarily focused on the introduction of the new mobile communications standard 5G. This project is intended to solicit the views of the population on the topic of 5G.
What is the current situation?
The BfS has already conducted several surveys that explored the public's views on the topic of "mobile communications and health". From these surveys as well as from other studies, it is known that the population is less concerned about mobile communications than about other issues such as multi-resistant bacteria or genetically modified food. It is also known that the knowledge about the functioning of mobile communications – and thus about exposure-relevant factors – is rather low in large parts of the population.
What are the objectives of the BfS research project?
The aim of the present project is to solicit the views of the population on mobile communications in general and on 5G in particular in order to adapt the information and dialogue offers of the BfS accordingly.
