Even though we are all spending a lot of time at home these days, UV protection is still important. The Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) advises making sure that you also have sufficient UV protection in your own garden, on your own balcony, or when taking a walk with your family. Even now, in early spring, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation can be so strong that it is harmful to health.

Under the leadership of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS), 56 European institutions will collaborate over the next five years to improve protection against the radioactive gas radon and residues from industrial processes involving elevated natural radioactivity (NORMs).

Ionising radiation Better data exchange in radiological emergency protection

If radioactive substances are released into the environment in the event of an accident, IMIS is the central instrument used by authorities to assess the situation and exchange information. With the third generation of IMIS, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) provides a new technical basis enabling a simpler and digitally more sustainable data exchange.
