Staff representation of the BfS
Federal administrative bodies, including the BfS, have staff representatives according to the Federal Staff Representation Act. These staff representatives are elected by the employees every four years and ensure that the interests of the employees are protected. The staff representatives also report on their activities twice a year at a staff meeting.
BfS currently has a general staff council as well as local staff councils at the offices of the six larger sites.
The general staff council is responsible for all matters which the offices at the individual sites are not authorised to decide (e.g. general service agreements, working time regulations, occupational safety). The general staff council ensures that the local staff councils are involved in these matters.
In addition, there is the main staff council, which is responsible for all matters relating to the decision-making responsibility of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
