We live out sustainability
As an authority in the portfolio of the Federal Environment Ministry, it is our task to protect people and the environment from the harmful effects of ionising and non-ionising radiation. We thus make an important contribution to environmental protection in the field of radiation protection.
But "how" we carry out our activities also affects the environment and the lives of people. That’s why sustainability is required and encouraged in our daily actions. As part of the federal administration, we are also aware of our exemplary role in implementing and living "sustainability in action" on a daily basis.
On the basis of the new Climate Protection Act and the “Sustainability” programme of measures of the Federal Government, we are geared towards achieving a broad range of ecological, economic, and social objectives. Under the Climate Legislation, we have a clear target to work in a climate-neutral manner at the BfS by 2030 at the latest. The implementation of the programme of measures is intended to increase sustainability in general (e.g. by promoting sustainable purchasing, optimising energy efficiency, improving the compatibility of family, lifestyle, and work, and promoting intercultural diversity).
