Objective
The goal of RENEB (Realizing the European Network of Biological Dosimetry) is to establish a sustainable European network in biological dosimetry involving 23 organisations from 16 European countries, that will guarantee highest efficiency in processing and scoring of biological samples for fast and reliable results implemented in the EU emergency management.

- University of Mainz, Institute of Medical Biometrics, Epidemiology and IT (IMBEI), Germany
- Clinical Centre Augsburg, Germany
Objective
Within the context of the project "Radiation-induced genomic instability: potential implications for radiosensitivity and the risk of cancer", epidemiological and molecular epidemiological research in the field of radiation and cancer is performed in partnership with the universities. One aspect of the project is the analysis of the BfS study on uranium miners for combined effects and research focussing on genetic factors.
Influence of long-term low-dose irradiation on cellsShow / Hide
Co-operation partners
Objective
The effects of long-term low-dose irradiation are assessed at cellular level. The experimental test design is developed in collaboration with modelers in order to ensure optimum utilization of test results in mathematical models. The tests are first carried out using established cell lines and are then extended to stem cells (for fibroblasts or blood cells).

- University of Munich (LMU), clinical center radiation therapy and radio-oncology, Germany
- University medical center Essen, institute of cellbiology, Germany
- Charité - University medicine Berlin (CUB), Institute of Pathology, Germany
Objective
The objective of this multidisciplinary project is to identify molecular targets and signalling pathways underlying cellular radiation hypersensitivity and resistance of tumour and normal tissue.
