Project „Radiological registration, examination and evaluation of mining relics (Register of Relics)“

Since 1991, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) carried out the determination of the natural environmental radioactivity originating from mining activities in the new Laender, as a spacial task due to the German Unification. Therefore, BfS performed the project “Radiological registration, examination and evaluation of mining relics (Register of Relics)” from 1991 until 1999. With this project those uranium ore mining relics which were no more owned by the Wismut GmbH and the relics of historic mining were systematically registered, examined and radiologically evaluated. more...

BfS Guideline on the examination and evaluation of mining relics

BfS has been developing the "Guideline on the examination and radiological evaluation of mining relics" with the objective to enable future decisions about the remediation of mining relics according to standardised, scientifically founded, economically appropriate and transparent rules. more...

Calculation Guide Mining (Berechnungsgrundlagen Bergbau – BglBb)

The Calculation Guide Mining serve to determine the mining-caused radiation exposure of man. They apply, in particular with respect to the

  • Use, decommissioning, remediation, and reuse of mining facilities and installations, and

  • Use, remediation, and reuse of premises contaminated through mining facilities and installations.

  • next...
