Digital Radio of Security Authorities and Organisations
Security authorities and organisations as, for example, police forces, fire brigades and rescue services operate a radio network of their own which is strictly separated from other radio networks. BfS concluded an agreement with the Federal Agency for Digital Radio of Security Authorities and Organisations (BDBOS). The Digital Radio of Security Authorities and Organisations is based on the technical standard “TETRA” (Terrestrial Trunked Radio). The terrestrial trunked radio system network is currently being set up in many European countries.

For the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) safety of the population and of the professional users is most important when the new digital voice and data communication system for security authorities is set up and operated. Therefore BfS concluded an agreement with the Federal Agency for Digital Radio of Security Authorities and Organisations (BDBOS). The implementation of research projects, exchange of information and experience regarding radiation protection, as well as the information of the public and the users of TETRA handsets are the aims of the agreement.
