Our research on the Tinea capitis (TC) campaign in Former Yugoslavia started six years ago. So far we were able to demonstrate large scale of TC epidemics, and massive scope of action used in its eradication. Further, we have found hospital protocols for 24,000 out of the overall 50,000 patients treated in Serbia. We will present the current status of our work, to be discussed in the context of world wide research findings which demonstrated and measured increased risk from low doses of ionizing radiation applied for TC treatment. Described risks were primarily the development of benign and malignant head and neck tumors.
