The Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS), together with the University of Cambridge, has started a 3-year project to promote an existing European database called the European Radiobiology Archives (ERA). The project ERA-PRO is partly financed with support from the European Commission. Together with the American National Radiobiology Archives (NRA) and Japanese Radiobiology Archives (JRA), ERA includes nearly all radiation biology studies with animals carried out between 1960 and 1998 in Europe, the US, and Japan, involving a total of more than 300,000 animals.
