Malign lymphomas are being successfully treated with Y-90-labelled antibodies. Y-90, a high-energetic beta-emitter, is administered intravenously with an activity of about 1 GBq. During the preparation and the injection of the radiopharmaceutical the nuclear medical staff may be exposed at a considerable level, primarily affecting the skin at the hands. Because the exposure of the staff can exceed the dose limit of 500 mSv/year, appropriate radiation protection measures have to be taken.
