Abstract
In nuclear power plants non-destructive testing (NDT) takes place in areas with radioactive radiation: during in-service inspection at vessels and pipelines as well as during production inspection at repaired components. Other important working conditions for NDT inspectors include tasks carried out wearing breathing protection, under high surrounding temperatures, time pressure and noise. The main goal of this study was to make a well-founded statement about the influence of the working conditions on the quality of the testing results based on the example of ultrasonic testing and to indicate possibilities for minimising undesirable influences. The German Technical Service Providers TÜV Nord and TÜV Süd were involved in the project to enable a fast implementation of the results in practise.
