BfS annual report 2017/18: RESEARCHING, INFORMING, PROTECTING
- The BfS annual reports give a general overview of the BfS key activities during the respective period and provide key figures.
- The current annual report 2017/18 has the motto "RESEARCHING, INFORMING, PROTECTING".
The Annual Report 2017/18 RESEARCHING, INFORMING, PROTECTING - the Federal Office for Radiation Protection is now available as free printed copy and on the internet at www.bfs.de. It provides a survey of the tasks and concrete activities of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS).

RESEARCHING, INFORMING, PROTECTING
Researching, informing, protecting – the Federal Office for Radiation Protection's (BfS) tasks are manifold.
Among the BfS work priorities selected for the publication are the social handling of radiation risks, radiation protection associated with the energy grid expansion, radon protection in Germany but also BfS recommendations regarding the handling of laser or ultrasound devices in the cosmetic industry.

2016: Act on the Rearrangement of Organisational Structures in the Field of Radioactive Waste Disposal
In 2016, the Act on the Rearrangement of Organisational Structures in the Field of Radioactive Waste Disposal became effective. Within that context, parts of the staff of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) were assigned to new organisations: The Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BfE) and Bundesgesellschaft für Endlagerung (BGE).
In March 2018, the new organisational structure of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection became effective. Thus, the necessary prerequisites were established to reorganise the BfS and to strengthen and further develop its profile as competent federal radiation protection authority.
On the occasion of this "restart", this annual report 2017/18 introduces the new organisational structure of the BfS.
